Site Glavicine-Sutroica, SPLIT, internal code ST-1,
entry code BQ 696
Project
BQ 696 (ST-1), «Privacity Split»
As the other two projects for the Split site, the
starting point here was the intention to extend
the centre towards the north and integrate Split
peninsula connecting northern and southern sea front.
Connecting the historical city with isolated nucleus
of centrality on the competition site (stadium Poljud,
Glavicine Turska Kula Park and other public buildings)
is envisaged through the extension of Zrinsko-Frankopanska
Street. Strong north-to-south axis would be accentuated
by open spaces at regular distances that emphasise
the path between different places, social realities
and buildings. The open spaces form the courtyards,
squares, public gardens and other points of interest
that are distinguished and refined with the variety
of imaginative urban equipment and accents such
as vegetation, water, illumination, tree lines,
grass and flower spots, water walls and fountains,
etc.
Here also the «green banana» is recognised - natural
belt stretching from Poljud across the Holy Trinity
Church surroundings to Glavicine Turska Kula Park.
In order to preserve this flow of nature, the architecture
is concentrated on the north side of Put Supavla
Street. High rise towers with modular housing units
rest on "pedestals" - horizontal groundwork buildings
that contain commercial and business facilities.
Project enhances the park and church surroundings
mainly by landscape planning, but also suggests
smaller-volumes buildings with appropriate contents-
restaurants, cafés and shops.
